Today is Rasa-purnima, the first full-moon night after the month of Kartika.
Interestingly, a full
eclipse of moon will also take place today. Generally an eclipse is not considered to be auspicious, but on occasions such as the one at hand, devotees like to give the eclipse a rasika-interpretation. We know how during Mahaprabhu's advent, the full moon was shy to appear before Gauranga-vidhu (the moonlike Gaura), and hid behind a shadow. Why, then, should the moon not be shy and hide when Sri Krishnacandra dances with the young maidens of Vraja?
Today, if the weather stays clear, I'll try and snap some pictures of the full eclipse and post them in.
Here's the full moon. About an hour to go until the eclipse begins.

About fifteen minutes after the picture above, a thick layer of fog came about and I could hardly see the treetops, what to speak of the moon. It just vanished altogether behind the layer of fog.

This is a pic of the eclipse about half-way through. It was a super clear night where we were.

Oh, too bad. Never mind, at least you've got your emerald trees back!
