We were just down in Mexico for five nights. This was our third snorkeling vacation, and checking out the coral reefs is something you all should consider, if you have not seen them, since they are in jeopardy of dying out, and this could be the final opportunity in this current kali yuga. We went to Punta Nizuc off the coast of Cancun twice before, and this time we went to the Plancar reef in Cozumel (supposed to be the second largest in the world after the Great Barrier Reef).
Every time I visit that area (Yucatan Peninsula – Caribbean coast), I think how it would be such an ideal location for a Vaishnava university and temple. It reminds me so much of West Bengal, yet the climate is not so drastic. There are few towns and lush sub-tropical jungle and mangrove swamps (one new resort, Xpu-Ha Palace, is actually a bunch of bungalows built right on top of the mangrove and you can hear and see tropical birds in the trees everywhere), and you can see many stars in the night sky. We went to one park (Xcaret) that has a sea turtle preserve and a magnificent butterfly atrium, and you get momentary glimpses of little sky-blue crabs darting around between the rocks (reminds one of kRSNa).
