Studies and Newcomers - Questions for our audience
Madhava - Wed, 20 Nov 2002 15:02:28 +0530
There are two topics I would like to bring up, reflecting on the thread "Manjaris' Seva".
1. How many of you have studied Bhagavad-gita, Tattva-Sandarbha, Srimad Bhagavata and Caitanya Caritamrita cover to cover? Should we open a new section for overviews of the aforementioned granthas? We could take turns and summarize sections of the granthas for others to study.
2. Though the contents of this forum are not exactly aimed for general consumption of anyone and everyone, we are aware of the fact that anyone may bump in for a visit. Should we, therefore, open a new section with restricted access to those either already initiated of whom we know well enough? The forum software facilitates creating sections which are visible to only certain members, and to which more can be added later on as required. Of course most of the content here is all right for everyone (after all, many people do come here in search of some depth for their bhajan), but on occasion, when topics not fit for a wider public disclosure arise, would this be a good idea?
Any thoughts?

1) I've read everything mentioned cover to cover except Tattva Sandarbha. I've just scanned it to see its contents.
2) I think it is a good idea. I sometimes may have a question regarding bhajan but would only ask in personal letter to someone who is inititiated in pranali and doing similar bhajan. The question may be relevant to others who are initiated as well.

Any thoughts? 1.I have studied Bhakti Sastri, and additionally for myself CC and Srimad Bhagavata.I think it will be good to open new section for overviews of those Granthas.I don't remember so much stuff anymore as i used to.
2.It is really excellent idea. This will enable people which are initiated to go in depth with some topics.Certainly amazing proposal.
Thank you,

1) I have studied the whole Srimat Bhagavatan, Bhagavat Gita, and parte of C.C . But for sure, I have no realization of any one of them.
2) Well, what can I say.... Please, do not kick me out ! I promise to keep quiet ... :

I am not convinced that one has to have read everything to engage in raganuga bhajan. If one is going to preach, one needs a broad understanding, but knowledge -- even of shastra -- is not and cannot be the prerequisite for rendering service to Radha and Krishna.

Today Sri Gita Jayanti is celebrated. To commemorate this, I will open a section on summary studies of scripture. This section will include chapter overviews of several important texts to be studied. We will begin with Bhagavad Gita, and then move over to Srimad Bhagavata whenever Gita is completed.

I don’t think is a good idea, take Nell, for example “I am just an ignorant housewife who won't take a chance to approach the Guru in this life”, see your own answer to Ananta Purusottama das who is “angery (sic) to be honest”
