Goswamiji established an asrama near Dhaka with the help of disciples. He lived there with his family and started preaching. Some of his sisyas lived with him there also, but his main assistant was Yogamaya Devi. She used to cook and serve and had the same affection for Goswamiji's disciples as she had for her own children...she loved them that much.
The environment of the asrama was like that of the Rsis of old. The relationship between Goswamiji and Yogamaya was also like the relationship between a Rsi and Rsi-patni of the olden times. An eyewitness account of the manner in which both were surrendered to each other and worshipped each other was once given by Srimati Yogamaya Guha, the wife of one of Goswamiji's disciples. She said...
"I saw everyday that Ma Thakurani entered a room with flowers and sandal paste. After her Goswamiji would enter, and at that time no one else could enter the room. I wondered what they did, so out of curiousity I peeped into the room through a window. I saw that Ma Thakurani first made an obeisance to Goswamiji, then sat before him and worshipped him with flowers and sandal paste. While she did this tears flowed from her eyes. The Thakur sat steady and grave with eyes closed. When she finished she put something by hand into his mouth to eat. Then Goswamiji put the remaining flowers on the head of Ma Thakurani and applied sandal paste to her forehead. I saw them worshipping each other like Siva and Parvati. Their bhava was so pure, so sublime that it beggars all description. It was after seeing their interaction that I realized what an ideal relationship between husband and wife really meant."
Ma Thakurani would only eat after making her japa by chanting one repition of Harinam on each rice grain and placing it in a pot.
After her rounds were done, she would eat those grains she had chanted on.
