jiva - Sun, 02 Oct 2005 14:39:00 +0530
Located near the Ganga in Mayapura in a very select location is a very beautiful ashram for sale. The property amounts to nearly one acre of land. The property includes a Thakura mandira, a residential house, plus several guest rooms. There are numerous flower gardens and fruit trees that create a nikunja atmosphere ideal for sadhana and bhajan. Please contact Goracanda dasa for details.

Is Gadadhar Prana Dasji moving?

No...
The kunja at this property was designed by Gadadhar Pran dasji, but now the people wish to sell it.

This would be Gadadhar Pran's former kunja, which he left to his wife when they separated. It is right next door to his place. His wife has let it run down a bit and many of the characteristic features of Gadadhar's landscaping have deteriorated. Nevertheless, it still has many of the good features--lots of flowers, mango trees, coconut trees, etc., etc. It is an extremely good location--right near the ghat without the hassles of being directly on the road. You're close to the Ganga, but high enough not to be affected by most floods. You would also be GP's neighbor.
I imagine that the asking price would be quite steep by Indian standards, but land prices in Mayapur have become very inflated. Iskcon so dominates the market that it's hard for anyone else to squeeze in.
Here are a couple of pix from Gadadhar's place. He is just building this new guesthouse, which is not yet finished. It is about twice as big as his current building.

Yes...this would be a beautiful buliding so that bhaktas can stay comfortably at his ashram. It will include a beautiful bedroom, attached bathroom, a study room, plus two large balconies that overlook the Ganga. There will be marbel floors and other fancy trimmings to make his guests comfortable and happy.Right now he's trying to have the second floor finished in time for the Gaura purnima festival.
Humbly,
