I would like to spend a good portion of the day chanting along to songs composed with the purpose of glorifying the most perfect Radha. But I do not know how to pronounce correctly so I am in need of someone to lead this praise. Therefore I'm looking for some recordings of songs that are meant to please the queen of Vraja. who would be so kind as to fulfill this desire of mine?
Humbly yours,
Jason
You can find some recordings at
Lake of Flowers and some more at
Raganuga.Com. However, some of the tunes there may be a bit hard to follow. Also, you may not have the words for a good many of those songs. (Which is something we are working towards remedying, more on that later.)
As far as I know, there is unfortunately no place online where you could download the common songs of Narottama Das Thakur and others. Not yet, anyway!
We actually thought we could record some basic melodies just to give you some ideas to run with, but as it turns out, the recording equipment donated for the LOF project is still underway, and I have no microphone to record with that would produce anything you could hear amidst massive buzz.

Dear Madhava,
This is what I offer. If I am supplied with the melody I have the proper facility to do some instrumentation, although not all will be authentic. For example, I don't own a harmonium. What I do have though is sri mrdanaga and some kartalas, along with acoustic guitar, bass guitar, and a pretty nice keyboard. With some manipulation I can get some sounds that are close to a harmonium. Hey, didn't Bhaktivinod Thakur prohibit harmonium in his kirtanas anyways?
If I was given the basic melodies I could make some nice recordings. Also if I were given the mrdanga mantras that would be a great plus because I am novice in that area without the mrdanga mantras. My biggest problem is that I can't pronounce the sanskrit nor have any knowledge of the different meters.
Tell me what you think of this proposal?
Your servant,
Jason
