Krishna-lila - A diorama in Vrindavan - From a Nimbarki temple

Madhava - Sat, 27 Aug 2005 04:25:39 +0530
This spring, as we roamed about downtown Vrindavan with Jagadananda, we came across a Nimbarki temple hosting a diorama of Krishna-lila. Here are some views from the display. Some of the pictures come off as a bit greenish despite my best efforts to fix them, the lighting there was good for the mood, but not for the camera.

First of all, in Kamsa's prison - Vasudeva and Devaki.

After this, it went all downhill for the Vraja-gopis... crying.gif

And he finally settled in Dvaraka, one day hosting his old friend, Sudama, with Rukmini in one of his palaces.

The story was told by the great Shukadeva, and by the touch of his lips it grew ever sweeter.

Over the centuries, the narration of Vraja-lila captured the hearts of countless saints, such as Mirabai the poet.

Lilashuka Bilvamangala sung of him so sweetly that the nectar was irresistable even for Krishna himself, and so Krishna Karnamrita, the narration that was nectar to Krishna's ears, came to be.

Oh Madhava,

How fortunate that Jagat and your good self are to have been able to see this firsthand. And how kind of you to share these photos with the rest of us.

It has been a lonely day for me, and this has helped. Thank you so much.

Your Servant,
Jason

Edit: I went and chanted some japa, and after I was finished I was drawn back to here again. I just wanted to add the appreciation I have for the beauty of this diorama. Krsna has made the craftmenship transcendental.

Thank you Madhava for sharing these transcendental pictures on this auspicious day. Just going through this posting was powerful enough to take me to roam in Vraja-dham for a while. flowers.gif
