News and Events
After the summer vacation of one month the Jiva Sanskrit School at Vrindavan has started its classes again on 1st July. At present there are more than 40 students taking classes free of cost. Another branch of this Sanskrit School was opened on 1st July at Radhakund, where classes in Harinamamrta-vyakaranam are taught by Shri Ashok Dasa.
A famous Vaishnava scholar, Pandit Shri Ananda Gopala Dasa, has been engaged at Jiva Institute, Vrindavan, to teach Vaishnava philosophy. Daily classes will start from 9th July. A function will be held on 8th July to inaugurate the new courses in Bhaktirasamrta-sindhu, Sat-Sandarbhas, Govinda Bhasya, Bhagavat Purana, etc.

In view of affiliation with Sampurnananda University, Benaras, an inspection team of the famous Benaras University visited JIVA Institute. Among their members were Professor Narendranath Pandey, Pratikulapati, Dr. Somanath Tripathi, and Shriman Omprakash Pandey. Even though they have visited many institutions, they were impressed by the excellent organization and management of the classrooms, book publishing, library, and book-lab, where the ancient manuscripts and printed books of JIVA are being preserved and digitalized.
Dr. Satya Narayana Dasa is giving regular classes on Caitanya Caritamrta, on Arthasamgraha, a basic book on Purvamimamsa, on Nyaya Siddhanta Muktavali, a popular book on Indian logic, Mahabharata, and Shrimad Bhagavata Purana. Some of these classes are held in English, others in Hindi language for local Indian sadhus.
JIVA Institute for Vedic Studies has started a school to teach Harinamamrta Vyakarana, a grammar book written by Jiva Gosvami. The classes are held from 2.30 p.m. to 6 p.m. A Sanskrit scholar, a sadhu belonging to the Gaudiya sampradaya, has been hired for this purpose. There are about 20 students coming from various parts of Vrindavan.
The students can write examinations and get degrees from West Bengal board in Calcutta. JIVA Institute will soon hire another scholar to teach other Gosvami literature.
Bhaktisandarbha is in the lay out stage. It will soon come out in three volumes. [ x2 ]
Festival at Kalidah
On 28th December was the disappearance day of Param Gurudeva Sri Gaurasiromani Mahashaya Pandita Shri Vinoda Vihari Gosvami Maharaja. At Goshalla there was adhivas kirtan on 26th night and 24 hour kirtan on 27th December. Many sadhus from Vrindavan participated in the celebration and feast held on 28th December.
The boundary wall at the Farm land of Guru Maharaja is under construction. It is being built in stone coming from Bharatpur, Rajasthan. The wormi-compost plant to make wormi-compost from cow dung is functioning. The first lot of bio-fertilizer will be ready in one month.
Maharaja has also planted about 3000 diesel plants at the land. These plants give a fruit which produces bio-diesel.
Activities at JIVA
The 12th January was the disappearance day of Srila Jiva Gosvami. A vidvat Gosthi or meeting of scholars was held at JIVA Institute to honor Sri Jiva Gosvami.
About 50 students and scholars participated in the function.
Dr. Satya Narayana Dasa has translated Tarkasamgraha, a basic book on Indian logic, into English along with its two popular commentaries, called Dipika and Nyayabodhini. Dr. Satya Narayana Dasa has also written copious footnotes to explain the difficult parts in the commentary. This book will be published in U.S.A.
