Ramayana month from today

Temples across the State would reverberate with chanting of Ramayana as the holy month of Karkadakam begins on Sunday.
The Malayalam month of Karkadakam will be observed as the 'Ramayana Month' and there will be recital of the Ramayana on all 31 days, besides religions discourses, in all the major temples.
Various rituals were performed at the temples to evoke the gods to ward off the evils associated with Karkadakam, the month of poverty and scarcity.
The Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple was opened at 5.30 pm on Saturday for the Karkadaka pooja will be over by July 21 and the temple will remain closed.
The Karkadaka Vavubali falls on August 4. Arrangements will be made to conduct the bali at Thiruvallam, Shanghumukham, Aruvikkara, Varkala, Thirumullavaram and Aluva.
