Facility for rating topics and posts - Would we like to get one?

If members would like to see more feedback on their topics and posts, it is possible to customize the forum software to make it possible to rate posta and / or topics of choice. Say, on a scale from 1 to 5.

Would that be a welcome addition? I would suggest that, if it's implemented, it's use be at least initially restricted to full members only, as we are really only concerned with the feedback of the target audience of the forums.

Yes, and also "why" if you don't mind adding a thought or two on why you voted as you did.

Yes, I'd like to see a facility for rating both topics and posts.
The rating could help me to selective reading of worthy topics and
posts instead of wasting my time on the board.

I took the coward's way out 'No opinion, I don't know if I'd use it or not.'

I think it really depends on the implementation. What I would really like to see is something like margin annotations for posts, like meta-commenting on topics, comments that may not be related to the thread, but of general interest to those reading the thread.

I don't think current browsing would easily support something like this without it being overly complex...
