Problems sending PMs? -

Madhava - Tue, 14 Jun 2005 02:05:18 +0530
Rasaraja has had problems sending longer PMs with Internet Explorer and Netscape. After clicking "Send", instead of getting the confirmation screen he's just been redirected to the front page and the message doesn't get sent. I was able to duplicate the problem at my end.

I would like to know if others have possibly been afflicted by the problem as well.

I am looking into the possible causes of the problem along with a fix.

As a practical tip for everyone, before sending your PM or any other message for that matter, I recommend clicking CTRL+A (Select All) and CTRL+C (Copy) to take a "backup" of the message on the clipboard. Then, even if sending the message / post fails, it's not lost - just paste it in and try again. This has become a routine for me, I rarely send anything over a HTML form without doing this first.

Yes, I just faced the same problem right now. Since it was too long I'm sending it part by part to Malatilata. The "quote" button is not working while sending PM?

While there is also a problem with using the quote-tags in excess of around 10 times in a message, the actual problem in the one you sent to Malati was an extra [/quote] tag at the end of the message. Uneven tags also break the tag functionality in a message.

It's a good idea to use the preview-button before sending, as that'll usually show you something's wrong.
