Have you downloaded from Lake of Flowers yet? -

Madhava - Tue, 31 May 2005 03:09:21 +0530
Lake of Flowers has been online for about a week now. The opening announcement here has been read 261 times up to date.

However, looking at the download counters at the website, I note that not all that much has been downloaded, not as of yet anyway. I would have imagined that such video footage would be selling like hot cakes, particularly since it's all offered free of charge.

I'd therefore be curious to hear what our fellow Gaudiya Discussion'ers have done at the site, if anything at all. Cast a vote and drop in your comments.

I am currently only on a 56-speed dial-up as I am soon to move house and do not want to get locked into a 12 month broadband contract. So I have not been able to download anything as my connection is too slow.

Would like to buy the videos on DVD if that becomes an option. If there were subtitles on lectures that would be helpful as from my experience on the Vraja Journal site, I find it hard to follow the English in the lectures. So I prefer to read the books instead on gaudiya.com.

But I'd love to download the kirtans. I will try and download some in a month or so with (hopefully) a broadband connection. smile.gif

You've obviously put in a huge amount of work on the site, so thanks for that!
Madhava - Tue, 31 May 2005 03:33:29 +0530
DVDs are coming up shortly, thanks to Tarun Govinda Dasji. You are going to be receiving a complimentary set thanks to your kind donations in the filming stage during my stay in Vraja. That 12 hour battery backup was a life-saver. smile.gif

Is there an admin section on the site that gives you a more accurate count of downloads? I've noticed that some films are listed twice (some Baba's Teachings), and the download counters 'move'... I swear one morning the dl counter was at 2, and later in the day it was 22.

Browsing OpenSource Movies by topic & selecting 'Baba's Teachings' with show you duplicates, each with different dl counts...
Madhava - Tue, 31 May 2005 16:49:35 +0530
The ones you see with higher counts are the old versions that don't include MPEG2 files. I've asked them to be removed, but as of yet, without success. (They're working on some system revisions and some functionality is a bit limited.) I'll go and edit them out of the search.

I downloaded everything so far, when is the video footage of your trips to Barsana Nandagram and Kamyavan coming on line? Perhaps also Giriraj Parikrama and whatever else you have?
Madhava - Tue, 31 May 2005 17:36:10 +0530
You and your small hard drive. biggrin.gif

Shiva Ratri and something from Madrasi Baba's festival just came out. Govardhan Parikrama on Maghi Purnima is coming up next.

Varshana, Nandagram and Kamyavan - still being processed, let me see what I find. I don't think I actually have all that much from there, for the most part photos. (I'll have to start making them available, too.)

Well I couldnt download it all and keep it all on the harddisk at once. I downloaded 700 mb at a time, burned it on a CD, erased it and then downloaded the next batch... huh.gif

This is currently being worked on. Subtitles for Baba's Teachings 1 are in final edit stage, and about 10 min of Baba's Teachings 2 are done. Hopefully that will go to final edit later this week.

I have tried on a few occasions to download content, but I get a blank screen with the movie archive logo. That is the same thing I get when I try to download from Vraja Journals. I am not the most computer literate. BTW, I just got Mozilla.
Can anbody help?

I think the easiest thing to do is to right click on the download link and select 'Save As...' or 'Save Target As...' (depending on the browser), and then save the file to your local hard drive. You can then double click the file to play in the prefered media player (probably MS Media Player by default). Playing the files in the browser can be problematic, depending on plugin installation usually.

That works for a while, then the file downloading freezes. This is an open cry for help, DC. Any Ideas?

Radhe Radhe!

I believe there will be a demand and interst on these videos as word of mouth spreads. I also think the subtitles will really drive some terrific word of mouth and demand.

What kind of internet connection do you have?

Try using the FTP. That's really the method of choice for downloading anything bigger.

FTP is short for File Transfer Protocol. (Tells you what it's good for, not?)

At the list of links to files on the download page, you'll also see "All files - HTTP / FTP".

SmartFTP is a popular and easy-to-use FTP program. You can read good tutorials on how to use it at their website:

I just saw the Maghi Purnima Giriraja Parikrama Video - man that was awesome! smile.gif I am surprised though, that the latter half of the parikrama was performed in the dark - did it take them such a long time, they took a long break somewhere in between or they started off from Radhakund late? Also at the end I got the impression that Madhava used infra-red or so in order to penetrate the darkness.. blink.gif

We must have spent almost an hour at Govinda-kunda. I think we left around three in the afternoon for the parikrama.

No, not infra-red - I ran to all the stalls with lights and filmed whenever a car drove by and cast in some light! laugh.gif It was a real experience filming all that. It was already a pretty quick pace we went at, and I spent most of the route running some fifty meters ahead of the parikrama group and filmed, then ran to catch them up and filmed...

Me so impatient!

My DVD-burners are waiting to go up in smoke, my friends.

SEND ME STUFF!

By the way,
thank you Madhava for this INCREDIBLE opportunity for so many persons to come in contact with Raganuga-bhakti and a true sad-guru via AUDIO/VIDEO-material.

Like said, counting the days.... smile.gif
