Root causes of perceiving the prakata-lila - Past impressions and desires

As Mahaprabhu comes every year to listen Vagavatam from Vagavatacharya.

Dasanudasji, you have no idea how happy this line made me! biggrin.gif I always keep thinking of prakata-lIlA but you reminded me that it still goes on of sorts. Thank you! biggrin.gif

Some who are eager and accomplished in bhajana can constantly perceive the unfolding of the prakata-lila even after its conclusion. This is understood to happen due to their inner impressions, following their desires.

Madhavaji, thank you very much for this verse, it makes me more happier! biggrin.gif

But what is meant by "inner impressions" following desires?

Translation of sva-vAsana. Are you familiar with the concept vAsana?

I understood vAsana to be impulses, or impressions as you translate it. I don't understand the concept of how they follow desires. Is the verse essentially saying "you can see the prakata-lIlA if you really have an intense desire to do so"?

No, "impulses" aren't the same as "impressions". Impressions are there before impulses, they give room to the rise of impulses. vAsana is commonly understood to be latent, or subconscious, impressions from the past. Such vAsanas are the reason for some activities or concepts feeling more "natural" to some people, and previous bhakti-vAsanas are also the cause of attraction for a particular mode of devotion.

LOL, you split the topic just as I was writing and I couldn't find it! biggrin.gif

Thanks for the explanation. So then the verse is essentially saying that "it is possible to see prakata-lIlA even now due to the impressions from previous lives, thanks to your accomplishment in bhajana"?

Yes, that's what the prose (smile.gif) is essentially saying. That, with the desire.
