Apology -
Advaitadas - Fri, 22 Apr 2005 21:33:20 +0530
APOLOGYI hereby wish to issue an apology to Sripad Haridas Shastri and Sriman Satya Narayan Das for making the following statement on www.gaudiyadiscussions.com in the thread "Nitai's statement on sane Vaishnavism, Sane and insane communities". I wrote there on April 12, 2005:
“Well as we have seen in the - for me very disturbing - recent revelations on this board of Satya Narayan Das's view of Krishna Lila - this is exactly what is happening when one applies one's intellect to the Inconceivable. I can imagine that some in SN's audience might start thinking: 'What is he (SN) doing then here in Vrindavan, if all this is either untrue, exaggarated or explained in some rational way? What am I doing here actually?”

May I ask who this learned soul, who is quoted in the file you posted, might be?

Open minded, thinking in both ways. Very interesting.

If he declines to be revealed, let's not have a guessing game over it. [One post removed.]

May I inquire, Advaitadas, as to how the learned insights from a follower of Haridas Shastri attached to your note affect your position with regards to the issues discussed, if at all?

My position has not changed one micrometer, because it is Jiva Gosvami's position, not mine. Me changing my position on bhrama pramada vipralipsa karanapatava would be abandoning Jiva Gosvami. As far as a deluded soul like me can understand the apparent contradictions between Sarva Samvadini, where Jiva Gosvami stresses the literal meaning, and Bhakti Rasamrita Shesh (which I havent read, which is why I am deluded) wherein he speaks of poetic embellishments in shastra, is that the former is a philosophical treatise and the latter a literary one and the two standpoints should be seen in that perspective.
With due respect, and forgive any annoyance or offense, I have full faith in Jiva Gosvami's verdict being beyond bhrama pramada vipralipsa karanapatava and not in that of Jagat and anyone who sided with him in that 'mother of all apostasies' debate of last June. In other words, the comments by Sridhara Swami and Jiva Gosvami on each single verse of Shastra must be studied separately to see which statement is exaggarated and which one isnt. Persons who are proven to be affected by bhrama pramada vipralipsa karanapatava should not pass judgements on them.
Note:
I do not wish to reopen the June 2004 Scripture-debate. This is a one-time, final statement!

OK, and I wasn't looking forward to resurrecting that discussion either. I was just curious on whether you agreed with what Anon. explained in the letter you attached along with the apology.
