Panjika - Calendar (2005-2006) - Raghunath Das Goswami's Vratotsava-panjika

Dear Madhava,

Speaking of Panjika...do you actually have a new one for download? I will greatly appreciate one, as well as my family.
Thanks,

This is a digital edition of the yearly calendar published by the assembled Gaudiya Vaishnavas of Radha-kunda, calculated in accordance with Hari-bhakti-vilasa. I'm typing in the panjika as time permits, the incremental additions will be visible in real time whenever entered.

Thanks to Yugal, I have now received a copy of the Panjika.

What I'll do this time over is I'll type it straight into a database with separate fields for each item. This'll help devotees to:

1) Search for events;
2) Print the kind of panjika they want, either as complete, or with all appearances and fasts, or with only main festivals and fasts.

I'll also look into the possibility of merging data from the ISKCON VCal program into the database to provide local tithi calculations. Regrettably the program doesn't produce comma-separated output or any other kind of output that could be easily imported.

For now, for those of you who read Bengali, you can grab the original panjika right away at http://www.krishnacaitanya.com/panjika/. I'll announce in this thread when there's more to look at.

I have just finished coding the back-end for inputting the calendar for this year as well as for any future years. I have now input a couple of days and will be adding to it whenever time permits. The semi-automated interface should make my work a whole lot easier.

There'll be more sophisticated features to it once I get the dirty work out of the way, in the meantime the current, rather bare-bone version should serve the purpose of providing information.

We are happy to announce that the Panjika is now available as a RSS feed. smile.gif

Fixed a minor glitch that prevented the RSS from loading today. smile.gif

Also, I added the previous day to the view, so the feed now starts from yesterday. This is there primarily to ensure that people from different time-zones don't get their "today" lost in the middle of the day.

The PDF file is unreadable in my (admittedly old v4) Acrobat Reader. What file format is the original in and what font was used? Any chance of uploading the original if it's not in something too obscure?

What's in the PDF file is the original, scanned. Images inside a PDF file. How about just upgrading your Acrobat? smile.gif
