Gaudiya Discussions back online - A list of revisions and so forth
Administration - Sat, 19 Mar 2005 08:44:37 +0530
Gaudiya Discussions is back online! It's about time.
We sincerely hope the revision will be welcome and that our members will find it a meaningful step in the healthy growth of the site.
The following is a list of structural revisions that have taken place:- The Gaudiya-related items from News and Editorials were merged into a single new category called News and Editorials, found at the top of the forums.
- A new section for Contemporary Issues is in place, dedicated to Gaudiya Vaishnavism in the modern world and so forth.
- A new section for Lila-katha is in place, hosting discussions on the pastimes of Radha-Krishna and Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
- The scope of the former References-forum has been expanded to include discussions on learning Sanskrit and Bengali. It has been subsequently renamed to Language and Texts.
- The Copy and Paste area has now been divided into a number of subcategories to make it more readable on its own.
- The Other Vaishnava-traditions forum has been moved under the Other Discussions area, its scope narrowed down to topics where other traditions interface with Gaudiya Vaishnavism -- there are other forums for independent topics on other traditions.
- Many topics have been filed, for one reason or another, to the Archives section that is available upon request. Please PM Administration for access, if necessary.
The following is a list of membership revisions that have taken place:- All members have been contacted, requesting them to review the new board guidelines, thereafter deciding whether they wish to continue their membership. Some 120 members have now confirmed their accounts.
- Unconfirmed member accounts have been marked as such. They will be removed in 30 days. A reminder for account confirmation will be sent in two weeks.
- In the course of confirming the accounts, many members have been promoted to the status of a Full Member, having filled in their profiles. Some have been demoted to regular Member status as well.
The following is a list of other revisions that have taken place:- Two moderators, namely Braja and Rasaraja, have been added in. For those of you concerned with uniform standards in moderation, a document outlining moderation standards will be posted in this forum shortly.
- The old skins have been removed. Let us all sit at the feet of Rupa Goswami for a moment while other new skins are being designed.
Considerable amounts of time have been spent in bringing about all of the above. We would tremendously appreciate if all our members strived to be model citizens in the cyberspace and thought of their participation as an offering at the feet of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, striving for discussions that are devotionally conducive and free from the evils of the mundane world that often ensnare us.

Let me be the first to say, Radhe Radhe! You are a master teacher, Madhava, always extending the test just that little bit more. I almost feel ready to grab my beads and a chaddar and seek some quiet kutir near Sri Radha's pond, such is the level of self-control I've learnt recently.

Dandavats. All glories to the Vaisnavas.
Radhe Radhe!
I look forward to the newest phase of Gaudiya Discussions and hope that everyone is as excited as I am to again have our internet sanga.
Aspiring to serve the Vaisnavas,
Rasaraja dasa

I was on the verge of doing just that one time too many in the course of the saga here.
I didn't dump my laptop in the Yamuna after all.
I hope and pray that all of this will prove to be worthwhile.

It seems like everyone but the moderators were disabled from posting. This issue has now been fixed, and everyone should be able to post everywhere. Please PM the Administration if you come across any further issues.

I feel like my spiritual life has been immobile in a plastercast for several weeks and as a result I no longer know how or what to post!
I'm hoping all you sadhus lurking here will get the ball rolling....

Thank GAURASUNDARA that this delightful forum is back!
I felt like I was being suffocated all this time, and just now someone pulled me up and I can breathe again!
As far as the forum is concerned, the new look is fantastic and I love it. Madhava, if its all the same to you I like this Rupa Gosvami skin. It seems fitting that Rupanugas should sit at the feet of Rupa Gosvami.
JAYA RADHE!

Thank you for being back online.
You are providing a valuable tool for many 'out in left field' who would otherwise have no mode of expression on the net.
GD Ki Jai
Gaura Gaura!

I am wondering what everyone thinks about how this forum is getting along ever since our good leader Madhavaji instituted some revisions not so long ago, re-clarifying the purpose of this board in respects to the target audience? It becomes very important to realise just how important our little sanga is and it becomes even more important to associate closely with those who share our mood fully.
I personally think that it is a great atmosphere now. We are having productive discussions that are on-topic vis-a-vis Gaudiya siddhanta. It is generally a little quiet but the activity level is on the increase again.
I must repeat again the paramount importance of how this forum is geared towards the target audience, and I think that this is the main factor that has re-focused this forum into discussing the Twin Objects of our love - Sri Sri Radha-Syamasundara.
Any thoughts?

I agree with you. All credit goes to Madhava for his tireless effort to provide us the opportunity to have Vaishnava Sanga.

I agree. Very mellow.
