Any tips on good electronic Bengali-English(-Bengali) dictionaries? Preferably for offline use, all links and suggestions much appreciated.
I was asked about that just a week ago and I don't know the answer to that but would be interested to hear what people suggest. The ones I tried had an unusual transliteration system and I don't want to learn yet another keyboard layout/transliteration system. I really like my samsad bengali-to-english dictionary, it takes a while to learn the bengali word order but that is a great skill to have and I do not yearn for an online version at all. You're in the land of cheap books and you can send it back to europe in book post which is a real bargain. How are your bengali studies coming along? If you haven't already got Radice's Teach Yourself Bengali get it! It explains so many of the discrepencies between spelling and pronounciation. I saw it in Rasbihari Lal's in Vrindavan
on a related subject, can anyone reccomend a good electronic dictionary for sanskrit for offline use?
Monier Williams Sanskrit dictionary for offline use is at

Thanks Keshava, The sanskrit dictionary is great.
I just posted this question at the ekushey yahoo group (about bengali font development issues) and some people there suggested:
http://www.bangladict.org/I get a bit phased at a big wodge of bengali prose so maybe someone here could summarise it here in english. Malika? Jagat? Somebody?
onek koshto dilam
Ananga Manjari Das
http://dsal.uchicago.edu/dictionaries/is the Samsad Bengali to English dictionary but it appears to have some words missing; kRSNa and Yugala for example! I'm sure that they'll get those sorted out
