'Most beautiful woman' ponders kiss
Aishwarya Rai has never kissed on screen

LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- Aishwarya Rai, one of the top stars of India's prim film industry, said in a television interview she won't rule out kissing in films when she moves from "Bollywood" to Hollywood -- although she says it is certain to create a minor scandal among her fans.
In an interview on CBS' "60 Minutes," Rai, recently named by a British magazine as the world's most beautiful woman, danced around the subject of screen sex, which is banned in India and many other countries where her films play.
"We'll cross the bridge when we reach it," she said, adding: "We'll work on the story, work on the scene. I'll work on the part and -- and let's see."
Rai, 31, stars in the new British film "Bride and Prejudice," an adaptation of Jane Austen's classic tale, and is considering several projects that will bring her to Hollywood.
She is virtually unknown in the United States even though fans have created more than 17,000 Web sites devoted to her and her beauty compared to Grace Kelly, Ingrid Bergman and Elizabeth Taylor.
She has never kissed on screen -- not even after 24 films because kissing is taboo in the Indian cinema. Rai said if she did kiss someone on screen in a Hollywood movie, it would create a minor scandal among her fans.
"It would definitely be a topic of discussion. ... They're going to enjoy (talking about it). ... In our society, you don't really see people around the street corner kissing or being extremely or overtly physically demonstrative," she said.

Bollywood debuts in real life kiss
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

MUMBAI, DECEMBER 15: It's probably Bollywood’s first big papparazzi strike.
Raking up a heated debate on India’s privacy laws and their purview, a Mumbai tabloid today published photographs of Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapur sharing a kiss at Rain, a well-known suburban nightspot in Mumbai.
‘Bollywood’s hottest young couple have evidently decided, Jab pyaar kiya to darna kya. We found Kapur and Kapoor liplocked at a party...’ read the report. Hours later, the stars were on record hotly denying the incident, claiming the pictures were morphed. They said they have slapped legal notices on the publication—Mid-Day—and asked its editor to issue an unconditional apology or face a Rs 20-crore defamation suit.
Mid-Day editor Aakar Patel though is firm that he won’t issue any apology, saying the stills were actually taken from a video clip. ‘‘There are no pictures but a video so there is no question of morphing,’’ he says, adding that his newspaper would fight the legal battle as the celebrities were public figures.
‘‘I have sued them and those pictures are morphed, done on the Internet, and put on a cellphone and sent to everybody on MMS. Mid-Day has taken the pictures out of that and carried it as if we were in Rain (the nightclub). Anyway, legal action has been taken. My lawyers are going to get it cleared,’’ said Kareena.
Shahid is also believed to have sent a notice to the publication. ‘‘I’m extremely hurt. Our families were emotionally traumatised. We have not visited Rain in the past three months,’’ he said.

*scratching head*
If we *have to* talk bollywood, I'd put Madhuri Dixit and Urmila way WAY before her.
But then when you compare her to Krishna's Rai... her "beauty" fades and crumbles like a dry leaf...

Its good Krishna and the gopis incarnated 5000 years ago to have their pastimes with modern day India's concerns about public displays of affection.

Hey, it wasn't public back then, either. It was totally hush-hush.
