Welcome, Brajamani Prabhu! I look forward to your being able to post in other topics. I've been reading some Buddhist books in the past few years and I see you already have a background in Buddhism.

Blessed Be,

Brajamani, your account is now upgraded. I'm renaming this thread and moving it over to the right section.

What's the legend with the 72 liter milk cow, any ideas? Was there one in the past?

I see that the world record cow gave an average of 85 liters per day, counting the average for a year, peaking at 100 liters in one day. smile.gif

Hey, if anyone has any other thoughts on Vraja Journal contributions, feel free to post in and start new topics, even.

One point worth knowing about high quantity milk-producing cows is that they are normally mortally sick inside and are kept alive only by constant pharmaceutical in-put. It is a form of torture really, and nothing to be proud about. Abnormally high quantity milking starts already at 40 kg per day.

Thank you nabadip. I had to work very hard to find milk for my family that was not laden with hormones and the like... I've heard rumors (but never seen studies) that say that BGH (Bovine Growth Hormone) is linked to the increasingly early onset of puberty in girls ( http://www.buffalobeast.com/58/PFtaste58.htm for example) A scary topic that is rarely discussed in the media... EDIT: Language is a little rough at the end of that article... sorry!
