Radha Raman Bhajans - [AUDIO]
braja - Sat, 13 Nov 2004 10:28:56 +0530
The song is a selection from
Sri Nikunja Rahasya Stava and Bilvamangal Thakura's
Govinda Damodara Stotra. But there is also an opening verse that I couldn't locate. Any one identify it?
This is one of my favorite recordings. I normally don't stray much in my listening habits, preferring simple Bengali bhajans but this is, IMO, an exceptionally beautiful combination of voice, flute, tabla, and, well, bhakti. I won't say anymore other than to suggest playing it while alone and really trying to enter the mood.

I discovered on my last trip to Vrindavan that this is a recording of Venu Gopal Gosvami.

I have seen Venugopal in Vrindavan last November. From my diary:
28 november (2004) – Venu Gopal Gosvami gives relief from samsara tapa with a good path in a new lecture room of Jaisingh Ghera. He looks a bit like Srivatsa Gosvami. More than 40 western sisyas attend, they are disciplined and pure, but wear no neckbeads – like him by the way. During the mangalacarana of his patha he is accompanied by a whole ensemble with violin, harmonium, sitar etc. They carry the Bhagavata and a deity around the area while chanting Vedic mantras. His patha is long, witty, learned and a bit controversial too.....
