Here is a tip on salvaging "lost" data.
Install a Key Logger.
This is a program that records your keystrokes and saves them in a text file.
If you ever had a problem with your PM or Yahoo mail or whatever disappearing while working on them you will like this.
Whatever you typed will be available to you (for the most part).
This has saved me many times.
