Namaste.

I have been reading a very devotional (Sanskrit-Telugu) book-
'Sri Krishna Lila Tarangini' by the Rasik Saint Sri Narayana Tirtha.
It'll be nice to share the translation of these sweet songs with the
devotees.

This song composition is from 6th TaraGgam -
'Narration of Raasa Lila' of Sri Krishna's pastimes.

6. 12

Among the assembled lovelorn ladies of Vraja,
one extremely fortunate Gopi whose accumulated
devotional piety and ausetrities of
thousands of lives have been fructified
with the dawn of selfless Divine Love,
offering obeisance repeatedly to Lord Krishna,
implored Him with this song.

Song: puraya mama kaamam

I offer my sincere prayers to You, Gopala,
again and again, O lotus-eyed Beloved!

O Madhava! You are the Supreme Lord and Creator,
but accepting Your own Maya, have appeared in human form.
Only the fortunate God-realized souls can perceive
Your transcendental nature and true glory in this world.

Fulfill my desire O Beloved Lord, Gopala!
Please fulfill my Divine yearning!

(pUraya...)

To bless Your devotees with sublime
pastimes of amorous Divine Love,
You are frolicking in the enchanted
forest of Vrindavana adorned in
exquisite ornaments and peacock feathered crown,
with a sweet smile of deep ecstasy on Your face.

Fulfill my desire O Beloved Lord, Gopala!
Please fulfill my Divine yearning!

In the concluding verse, the Saint (Gopi) prays:

You have appeared in ten more Divine forms
to save the Earth and accepted innumerable
surrendered souls with Your great compassion.
O irresistably attractive Cupid Lord, Sri Krishna!
Now bless this sage too, with ever increasing Divine bliss!

Fulfill my desire O Beloved Lord, Gopala!
Please fulfill my Divine yearning!

Namaste.

Here is another one from my favorite song collection.
This 'maadhurya bhaava geetam' is like deeply condensed
and concentrated sweetness personified in skilfully
selected musical words of Sanskrit.

I am afraid the deliciousness of this sweet nectar
may be lost in translation!

Is Narayana tirtha also the auther of the Narayaniyam?
Love those songs. I have a nice tape of Dr.Balamurali krsna singing a selection from the tarangini.Ther used to be a company called Sangheeta Music that brought lots of tapes like that, but they no longer exist. Do you know anything about that?

Jaya Radhe!

Dear Anuraga,
Do you have the song which starts "krsna kalaya sakhi sundaram...etc."?

Yes, it is available on the net. To listen to the kirtan, go to this link:

Sri Narayana Tirtha was not the author of Narayaneeyam. South Indian vocalist, Smt. P. Susheela had produced a nice album of 'Krishna Lila Tarangini' songs, which contains all the kirtans mentioned here. Her Sanskrit pronunciation is perfect.

Another melodious Kirtana of Sri Narayana Tirtha from 4th Taranga can be enjoyed at:

http://www.musicindiaonline.com/music/s/?q...anmohana&c=0200

"pAhi pAhi jagan mohana kRSNa paramAnanda zrI kRSNa..."

The wording is very simple consisting of various Sanskrit names of Sri Krishna arranged in a soultingling 'Raaga' called - 'nAda nAma kriyA'.

Namaste.
Srimad Bhagavatam doesn't give a full description of all the details of Rasa maya lilas of the Lord but the Siddha Mahaprusha like Sri Jayadeva Kaviraja, Sri Lilasuka Bilvamangala, Sri Hita Harivamsha, Sri Prabodhananda Sarasvati and the six Goswamis had done it in their great Rasik compositions.

In Dasama Taranga (10) of 'Sri Krishna Lila Tarangini' by Sri Narayana Tirtha
Lord Krishna's meeting with the devotee Kubja of Mathura is described.

I like to share a few beautiful Sanskrit verse from that episode:

Poetic version of this episode was also published in Telugu poetry titled -
"KubjA Krishna VilAsam" by another South Indian scholor.
