Mayapura's Adbhuta Mandira?

The prediction was made 500 years ago that in the future an "Adbhuta-mandira" or a wonderful temple would appear in Mayapura. And now, five centuries later, that wonderful "Adbhuta mandira" is manifest itself by the mercy of paramahansas Srila Bhaktivinode Thakura and Srila Sarasvati Prabhupada. The great, powerful, and beautiful temple is named Sri Yoga-pith Mandira and it is located right where Lord Sri Krishna-Chaitanya appeared on Earth.

QUESTION: Isn't the "Adbhuta Mandira" or Wonderful Temple predicted for Mayapura already there? Doesn't It already exist!

It is disturbing to be told that Sri Yoga Pith Mandira is NOT Adbhuta enough; it is NOT the Adbhuta Mandira predicted 500 years ago. The REAL Adbhuta mandira is going to be built at a cost of "one BILLION dollars!" Rather than show respect to Sri Yoga Pith Mandira some think that they must surpass the temple of Lord Chaitanya's birthplace!? - physically bigger, more beautiful and materially grand.

CONCLUSION: Just because Sri Yoga Pith Mandira is run by the Gaudiya Math institution that is no reason to deny it or neglect it and over-endeavor to collect money in order to far surpass this Great Temple with a materially bigger temple controlled by others.

All who are blessed please worship Mayapura's Adbhuta Mandira, Sri Yoga Pith Temple, which is already firmly established by the predecessor Acaryas.

Who gets to decide which temple is the most adbhuta? Can there be many adbhuta mandirs? Were there adbhuta mandirs prior to the one established at Mayapur? Did the earlier generations envision adbhuta mandirs, or was it first discussed in a book by Bhaktivinoda, who then proceeded to establish a mandira at the place he envisioned as Mahaprabhu's birth site?

Who here has been to Mathura?

Have you seen that big mandir called Krsna Janmastan?

Have you also seen the one named Pracin Krsna Janmastan?

Have you also seen the Mosque, supposedly built on the demolished original Krsna Janmastan?

Are you getting what I am saying here?

MY PREDICTION:

In our lifetime there will be another dispute about which is the actual birthsite of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

Bigger isn't always better, but usually might ends up being right in the end, in this world.

What to do?

How about Thakur Bhaktivinod and Saraswati Prabhupada. One adbhut mandira was predicted and one adbut mandia was made. Only thing missing is bhakti.

I remember being there in 1968 for the Golden Anniversary of start of GM. Over 100,000 devotees were there for three days. It was a night mare! It was heaven. I stayed with GM's Yati Maharaj (disciple of BV Tirtha Mj) and we became friends and stayed in touch. During one kirtan it took almost 10 minutes to chant around the Yoga Pith because of so many. Over 100 mridanga were going. It was "adbut!"

During that period Srila Bon Mj took me around and I got to meet just about ALL his Godbrothers, and I saw the love they shared. I don't think any ACBS Prabhupada disciple ever meet so many BSSP disciples in their life. It was amazing to see all these (then) 70 year old Gurus, and all their friendly disciples mixing together. There was no, My Guru is better than your guru!

I really felt blessed at that time to be the only sahib from the whole population of planet earth to be present at the 50th Golden Anniversary of GM at Yoga Pith when ALL the disciples of BSSP came together to worship Srila ParamGurudev.

And it never occured to me that YP wasn't THE adbuta Mandira predicted. So in the end, I decided for myself.

Hare Krishna!

Pujya Keshava Prabhu,

Good logic. Concerning your prediction, I would say there will be 4 choices.

Lord Chaitanya was either...

1) Born at Yoga Pith
2) Born at Iskcon Mayapur
3) Born at New Vrindavan
4) Born at Watseka Ave

See footnote 16 of this excellent article for more information. It is not really as black and white as you put it.

There were mandirs built before on the birthsite of Mahaprabhu, the one built by Raja Bir Hambir, and later on the one built by Gaur Govinda Singh.
