NOTE: Server Move -> ca. 4 hours transfer -

Madhava - Sun, 21 Mar 2004 22:24:55 +0530
Our hosting company is moving my sites to a server with double the RAM and faster CPU:s and HD:s.

When data is backed up from the old server and moved to the new server, and as the DNS begins to resolve, there may be an overlapping of ca. four hours, which means that some will see the old board and some will see the new. In theory, it is possible that during this transitional period, some posts will reach the old server and will not be backed up to the new one.

Therefore, if you write long and/or important posts today, I suggest you keep copies of them for yourself. In theory, I can also dig them up from the old database, but it is much easier if I don't have to compare the databases and you just re-post to the new board whatever may have been missing.

When the move is in process and as soon as I know the new IP address of the new server, I will set the old board to redirect there. Do not be alarmed if you see a temporary address on the URL line for a period of time when you log on to the forums.

A couple of posts seem to have ended up in the old server and were not captured in the backup.

Please see if any of your posts are missing, look them up at http://207.218.248.42/gaudiyadiscussions.com/ (the old server). Then just post them in here.

That's all there is to it. Some PM may have gone missing, you can also retrieve that from the old server.

We are currently experiencing problems with our server. The MySQL-server seems to be overloaded with something unknown as of this moment. The issue is being investigated. Currently, viewing topics or replying to topics is next to impossible. Check back in an hour or two and try again. Please contact us at admin{at}gaudiyadiscussions.com or on the IRC-channel if you have any questions in this regard.

Everything should be back to normal now. Please report any issues to me.
