What is a proper way of observing the appearance days of various Vishnu-tattva-avataras for Gaudiya-sadhakas?

Whatever a sadhaka or aspirant wants to know, the shastras should be the first reference. The rules of conduct in the Caitanya Vaishnava tradition has been laid down in books like Haribhakti Vilas and Bhakti Rasamrita Sindhu. Here rules for fasting for the appearance days of 'ancient' Vishnu Avataras like Krishna, Rama, Vamana and Narsinha have been given. Later on the worship of Sri Caitanya and His companions Nityananda and Advaita commenced and fasting was introduced on Their appearance days, as well as on the appearance day of Smt Radharani. The babajis mostly fast from all grains and pulse, like on Ekadashi days, on all these vrata days. Others fast only up to the time of the day the particular avatara appeared and then eat grains as well. This largely depends on the instruction of the individual's Guru, especially with the 'modern' vrata days mentioned above. Advaitadas

Thanks for the useful tips.
What about absorption in thoughts of a particular avatar's pastimes and the relationship of this to ekanta-bhakti?
