Dandavats. All glories to the Vaisnavas.
Has anyone ever read Madness of the Saints: Ecstatic Religion in Bengal by June McDaniel? It sounds like an interesting read and was thinking of picking it up but was wondering if anyone else has ever read it and could tell me if it is worth the read? Thanks!

Don't just play the music
I want to see you do backflips and forward rolls with a mrdanga in your arms the way the bauls do it.
Just do it, bhai!

I read the book. It starts promising, because the whole book is dedicated to my Guru, but apart from that dedication there is not a word about him in the entire book, let alone a chapter. If you want to know the nitty gritty of Bengali spiritual culture then read it, but if you only care about raganuga bhakti then you shouldn't bother.
