Bhoga-offerings / Meditating on Krishna alone - Two questions

TarunGovindadas - Mon, 13 Oct 2003 21:07:08 +0530
Radhe Radhe!

formerly i was logged in as tinysoul...
i grew....

now i got two questions for this very nice forum:

1)
i heard from Srila Narayana Maharaja that Sri Krischna never accepts a bhoga-offering from someone who chants less than 64 rounds.
so, if a newcomer meets a saint and is not yet initiated, what to speak of one lakh of rounds...
how can he come in the bliss of eating the Lords remnants?

2)

i also heard from the same source that if one meditates only on the beautiful form of Sri Vrajendra-nandana,
then one merges in his bodily effulsion.

what do the learned say?

thank you

Tarunji

This is based on the story of Mahaprabhu's refusing to visit the house of anyone but a "lakshapati", or a person who chants one lakh of holy names daily. Some have stretched this incident from His pastimes to apply to all practicing devotees at all times. I don't agree with this idea.

Of course, in the ultimate, one may say that Sri Radha and Krishna personally accept only the offerings which you carry directly to Them in your siddha-deha.

We must nevertheless understand that there are various levels of accepting an offering. Radha and Krishna certainly accept the offering prepared with loving devotion, but that may not be the snack they enjoy in the nikunja. When you join Srimati in the morning when She leaves for Nanda-bhavan to prepare Sri Krishna's breakfast, and when you assist Her in preparing the delicacies, then certainly the bhoga-offering reaches Him.

This, however, may not be the daily experience of the sadhaka, who may or may not chant 64 rounds. Regardless of this, whatever is offered with devotion is accepted.

Perhaps so, if one knowingly avoids thinking of Vraja and its residents. However, who in the world is doing like this? Any examples in the scriptures? The yogis meditate on paramatma, not Vrajendranandana.

How about Sri Mira Bhai ji?:-) She is believed to merge with her beloved Sri Ranchorji (Sri Krisna).

Yes, this is the legend. However, there is little concrete information based on which we could draw conclusions on the goal she attained. For all we know, she could have become a Queen in Dvaraka.

Maybe, you're right...:-) After all, that was her most desire from the kisori age...
