`Mridangam' artist plans to break record

KANNUR, Kerala: The young musician Kuzhalmannam G. Ramakrishnan is planning to break the world record of playing percussion instruments continuously for 84 hours at a function to be hosted by Rotary Club Seaside, Kannur and Cannanore Round Table here on May 25.

At a press conference here on Saturday, Mr. Ramakrishnan said that he had already broken a 30-hour record in playing `mridangam' in July last.

The event to start at Mascot Beach Resort at 9 a.m. on May 25 will be held under the supervision of the Guinness and Limca Book of World Records. It would be a solo performance in `mridangam' based on different `talas', he said.

The present record in the category is an 84-hour performance by Suresh Joachin Arulantham of Australia in Zurich.

Mridangam artiste breaks world record

Kuzhalmannam Ramakrishnan, mridangam artiste, created a new world record in marathon performance in mridangam by breaking the present world record of 84-hour continuous performance in percussion instruments set by Suresh Joachin Arulanthan of Australia.
