iskcon and biskcon - how do they differ

suryaz - Tue, 16 Nov 2004 09:01:39 +0530
Does anybody have copies of Iskcon Inc. and of Iskcon Bureau [biskcon] policy statements

How do they differ?

In 1966 Iskcon Inc. was established in New York. However, Iskcon in India was developed in 1972? with accord to Indian Law 1860 and is legally the "Bureau of the International Society for Krsna [Krishna?] Consciousness".

It appears although we call both iskcon they are legally distinctly different groups.

I want to compare policies of both groups.

I want to findout more about this.

I don't know anything about Biskon but I thought you might find it of interest to know of yet another curious variation of sorts. Albeit not a legally registered entity, here where I live there is what we have come to call Birskon, formed years ago by Bir Krsna Goswami. Let me know if you like more details on that one.

Hahahaha... laugh.gif

I also haven't heard of Biskcon. However they have the original BBT and BBT International which are two different entities. Perhaps you got the ideas mixed up, Suryaz.

No! there is

Iskcon Inc.:

International society for Krsna Consciousness Inc. established in NY 1966

and there is

Bureau of the International society for Krsna Consciousness (aka ISKCON Bureau or BISKCON)

see folio word search for "bureau" and "iskcon"

Both use the short term iskcon. And form a GBC confederation

However, legally, both are different entities and have similar but different rules and policies

I want to see how they differ.

both were established by ACBVS

ie ISKOCN in India is a different entity from ISKCON in the west [legally]
