Just curious, do you have the translator's or the publisher's permission for distributing the book freely on the internet? If not, I suggest you don't do it. I've disabled the attachment until Jagat visits the threads and gives an OK or disapproves of it. Jagat, you can view a duplicate of the file in the moderators' area.

No, I didn t have. I thought that there is no problem sending it freely to others, since I received it for free too. My main interest was to serve those vaishnavas who asked me how to purchase the book. I didn t intend any copyright violation or anything else.

Sorry.

Sorry.

I understand that there was no ill intention.

It's just that many files are being circulated around without the permission of the translator, and everyone thinks there's no problem because they got it for free, too.

It's not really a matter of copyright violations or other technicalities, just a matter of respect for the work of the translator and his wishes.

People who wish to purchase the book can contact Jagadananda or Nitai das.

Dandavats. All glories to the Vaisnavas.

I believe that Jagat should be so kind as to give us just a snipet... just a little bit? Besides I am the type that will download the song and then buy the album...

Aspiring to be a servant of the Vaisnavas,

In Nitai's "Bhajan Kutir" there is a starting part of "Sri Manjari-svarupa-nirupana" by revered Sri Kunjabihari Das Baba - an introduction and a full first chapter. Unfortunately, there are no other 8 chapters...sad.gif
You can make a look, if you want... smile.gif

It's a pity, that Jagadanandaji didn't said a word if all of us, thirsty for this nectar, can receive it...

Radhe!

Though this is of course up to Jagat, I don't think Baba would agree to having the entire MSN openly available on the internet. It is, after all, a rather confidential topic, and Baba is concerned even over Radha-rasa-sudhanidhi and Vilapa-kusumanjali.
Advaitadas - Tue, 23 Dec 2003 21:06:54 +0530
Werent those books, according to Ananta das ji's standards, meant only for devotees who have siddha pranali?
Jagat - Tue, 23 Dec 2003 21:18:45 +0530
I hope that everyone will excuse me. I am also waiting for Ananta Dasji's opinion in the matter. Besides this, Nitai and Madhava have been working hard editing and typesetting my translation in order to make it available in hard copy. This should not be too far off in the future, so I hope everyone will support these efforts by purchasing the finished product, the proceeds of which will be going to pay for costs and to contribute to Ananta Dasji's efforts.

I am not quite sure how the MSN got out. I was rather liberal in sharing it with devotees in the past--as not that many people were really eager for it. Now that there is wider interest, I would rather adhere to Panditji's wishes. Of course, there is little that I can do about the editions that are out there. I can only say that the published version will be more correct and have many features that the circulating files do not.

Thank you,

Jagat

According to a recent note, other books are all right, while RRSN and VK are for those who are initiated or otherwise have his permission.
Kalkidas - Tue, 23 Dec 2003 22:02:58 +0530
Many thanks to everyone for clearing the matter. Of course, I will wait for proper initiation before reading books, that are not recommended by Panditji.
And naturally, I'll buy printed version, when it will be available and I'll be ready for purchase.

You are afraid that you will not bother them with your questions? Why should you be afraid of that? Rather, you might be afraid that you will bother them with your questions. Don't ask bothersome questions, ask relevant questions; you'll be just fine.

Examples of bothersome questions:

"Could you explain relationship of the 24 elements of the mahat-tattva and the three modes of nature in relation to yin and yang and the five elements in Chinese medicine?"

"My father's daughter's sister thinks that I should study medicine, although I am more interested in biology. Do you think I should study either or both together or separately?"

Examples of non-bothersome questions:

"Which books should I read to progress in my bhajan and learn more about Gaudiya Vaishnava siddhanta? I have already studied A, B, C and F."

"It is said that one should engage in both kirtanam and smaranam. How should a person who is not initiated engage in smaranam?"

Jagat, what s your opinion about the version that I put here
Madhava - Wed, 24 Dec 2003 06:14:10 +0530
Well, for starters, it's missing all those hundreds of footnotes. It is also not proofread. I have no idea how old that text is, but regardless of that, there have been a couple of rounds of proofreading recently.
TarunGovindadas - Wed, 24 Dec 2003 19:10:33 +0530
Radhe!

why not asking Srila Ananta das Babaji about such important matters?

i wrote him 6-7 letters and he mercifully answered all my "silly" questions".
then i asked him if i steal his time and he said no, he is VERY PLEASED TO HELP ANYONE in advancing in one´s bhajan.

i also asked him, after several letters, which books he would advice me to read and he told me that RRS or VK, PBC, RVC are OK for me to read.
so i followed his guidance and i am more than happy to be under his anugatya.

whenever i have a question i ask him and he very nicely answers.

what a wonderful soul!

Tarunji

For the record for everyone who's planning to write Baba or visit him at Radha Kund, it's always a good idea to give him a context for yourself; mention the people whom he knows, how you've been in touch with them and all of that. He is sometimes uneasy when people drop in out of the blue, because some people have abused his abundant availability for foolish causes.

sad.gif Oh no! A nice devotee on this frum told me that I "sound ready" to read RRSN and VK, now I have to wait for initiation first. Grrr.

It says, initiated or with permission.

Why does one have to be initiated or get permission (and from whom?) in order to read these books? huh.gif
Madhava - Sun, 08 Feb 2004 23:28:40 +0530
Well, if we are talking about books someone has written, or someone's guru has written, they certainly have a word over the audience to which they wish the books to be available.
betal_nut - Sun, 08 Feb 2004 23:30:00 +0530
Why would that be?
Isn't hari katha meant for all?
ananda - Mon, 09 Feb 2004 01:22:54 +0530
@Madhava
I did already asked him but he doesn't reply to me. Maybe i have the wrong E-Mail Address or ... . It's the one from this forum.

Thanks anyway
